Someone has to pay because it relies on at least two paid things: electricity, hardware (imagine that human time is gratis) I'm not talking about how those two things should be gratis or not, it seems reasonable to me that producing a physical thing has a lot more costs that copying 1's and 0's. Just don't confuse your freedom with your ability to get things for zero price. If I knew someone who had RHEL I would ask him to make a copy of it without the non-Free parts like Java et all. It would cost me just the same.
